Testimonials from Previous Participants of Our French Language Immersion Programs
Your French Teacher 2026/2027 – A2/B1 and B1/B2+ Levels
In 2026/2027, the French courses for intermediate and advanced learners will be led by Akhil. With extensive experience teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE), he combines professional expertise, strong teaching skills, and positive energy to create an engaging learning environment.
During your French language immersion stay, Akhil also lives at the Envie de Sud Guest House. He joins the shared meals and accompanies the cultural excursions, allowing you to experience authentic French communication and culture far beyond the classroom.
Through regular professional development, Akhil continuously updates and refines his teaching methods. He is currently completing his Master’s degree in FLE, Language Teaching and Francophonie through a work-study program at Marie and Louis Pasteur University.
It was also in this academic context that Akhil met Ursula, the host of the Envie de Sud Guest House. She is also completing her Master’s degree in French as a Foreign Language (FLE). While Ursula focuses on linguistic research, Akhil is developing his expertise in teaching French to non-native speakers.
Akhil teaches with patience, humour, and great attention to each participant’s individual needs. The progress achieved by his students during just two weeks of immersion at Envie de Sud is remarkable. Of course, these results also depend on each participant’s motivation, commitment, and ability to learn—but Akhil’s structured, personalized, and effective teaching approach plays a key role in creating a successful learning experience.
In addition to French, Akhil speaks English, German, Spanish, and Hindi. His knowledge of several languages makes communication easier and provides extra reassurance, especially at the beginning of the stay.
Before or after your French language immersion stay at Envie de Sud, you also have the opportunity to book private French lessons with Akhil.
The name of his language school, FLE-FLEX, perfectly reflects his teaching approach: FLE stands for Français Langue Étrangère (French as a Foreign Language), while FLEX represents maximum flexibility.
Through a personalized teaching method, Akhil supports international learners around the world, providing tailored guidance adapted to their individual goals, learning needs, and pace.
Your French Teacher 2026 – A1 Level – Beginners
Annick is originally from the Nîmes region. After spending around twenty years in Munich, she returned to her native region in the south of France. Today, she works as a freelance translator and French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teacher.
With more than twenty years of teaching experience, Annick supports learners from all over the world. Thanks to her excellent command of German and her good knowledge of English, she is able to explain the specific features of the French language clearly and address the individual needs of both German-speaking and English-speaking participants.
Annick believes in the value of face-to-face learning: studying together around a table, exchanging ideas directly, and benefiting from personalized guidance. This is why the A1 beginner French course at Envie de Sud is intentionally limited to just 3 or 4 participants in 2026. Each learner receives individual attention and can make rapid progress in a supportive environment.
Shared dinners are also an important part of her teaching approach. Annick takes part in these meals and creates a relaxed atmosphere with many opportunities to practise French naturally, apply new language skills, and gain confidence in speaking.
Around one month before the French language immersion stay, all participants meet online for a shared preparation session. The course structure is introduced, exercises are provided, and learning activities are assigned in advance.
To participate, learners should have a solid basic French vocabulary at A0 level so that they can progress effectively towards A1 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) during the stay.
Participants who wish to continue improving their French after the immersion program can also book private online French lessons with Annick.

French Levels & Choosing the Right Course
We offer three French course levels:
A1 – Beginners with some basic French knowledge
Small group of 3 or 4 participants
A2/B1 – Intermediate level, with a solid foundation or school French to refresh
Small group of 3 to 6 participants
B1/B2+ – Advanced to upper-advanced level
Small group of 3 to 6 participants
The French immersion concept applies to all language levels.
During the stay, the focus is on listening comprehension, interaction, and spoken expression: giving and requesting information, expressing opinions, summarizing events, and discussing them in French.
The lessons also provide opportunities to review and consolidate important grammar points.
Unfortunately, we are unable to welcome complete beginners with no previous knowledge of French (A0 level), as our program is based on communication and oral comprehension from the very beginning.
However, it is easy to acquire the necessary foundations independently or with personalized support through private French lessons with Akhil as part of FLE-FLEX.
As soon as you have reached A1 level or above, we will be delighted to welcome you for a French language immersion stay in the beautiful Camargue region of Southern France.

How Is My French Level Determined?
Before your arrival, we will discuss your current French skills, your learning goals, and your expectations. If necessary, a short placement test will help assess your French level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), from A1 to C2.
This allows us to recommend the course that best matches your needs and helps Akhil and Annick prepare lessons that are tailored to the participants’ individual learning objectives.
We invite you to begin with a self-assessment of your French level. You can find the CEFR self-assessment grid here:
https://www.coe.int/fr/web/portfolio/self-assessment-grid
What Does a Typical Course Day Look Like?
Your French language immersion stay of more than 100 hours begins with your arrival on Sunday afternoon at the Envie de Sud Guest House and ends two weeks later on Saturday morning.
From the moment you arrive, we communicate with you and the other participants in French. Even if your vocabulary is still developing, you will be able to communicate with us. Trust our approach: we adapt the way we speak to your level. If a situation genuinely requires it, we can exceptionally use a shared language such as German or English.
Your French lessons with your teacher generally take place from Monday to Friday mornings. Each day includes 4 lessons of 45 minutes. Classes start at 9:15 am and finish at 1:05 pm. The afternoons are dedicated to homework, personal practice, reviewing new material, or simply taking the time to absorb your progress.
At least four afternoons are dedicated to cultural excursions in the Camargue and the surrounding region. These experiences provide many opportunities to use and strengthen your French skills in authentic, real-life situations.
Each day begins with a shared breakfast accompanied by conversations in French—while the most lively discussions are usually reserved for the evening! We then meet for dinner at our table d’hôtes, enjoying a warm and friendly atmosphere. These conversations in French naturally help you expand your vocabulary and gradually gain confidence and fluency when speaking.
In addition to course participants, your teacher and sometimes other guests also join the meals. This gives you the opportunity to hear different speaking styles, expressions, and regional accents—an invaluable experience for improving your listening comprehension.
During the weekend in the middle of the stay, there are no formal classes. You can use this time to complete your homework, join a group excursion, or explore the Camargue independently or with other participants.

Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation terms are communicated clearly and transparently at the time of booking.
As the French language immersion stay at Envie de Sud Guest House is a carefully organized experience in a small group, we recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance to protect yourself in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Our concept is based on a personalized approach: intensive small-group French lessons, daily language support from qualified professionals, high-quality accommodation, and Mediterranean cuisine. This complete immersion experience provides a unique learning environment with individual attention for each participant.
To ensure the quality of the stay and reliable organization for participants, teachers, and hosts, free cancellation is possible up to 8 weeks before the start of the program.
For cancellations made after this deadline, 80% of the total stay price will be charged.
These conditions allow us to maintain small, personal groups and ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Can I Book Online French Lessons Before or After My Stay?
Yes. You can book private online French lessons with Akhil or Annick before your stay to prepare in a targeted and effective way.
After your immersion program, you can also continue with online French lessons to consolidate your skills, maintain your progress, and continue improving over the long term.
Can I Come With My Partner or Bring My Dog?
Yes, your partner is of course welcome, even if they do not take part in the French classes. This allows you to combine your French language immersion stay in the Camargue with a holiday for two. We would be happy to provide a personalized offer upon request.
To ensure the best possible learning experience, we appreciate it if your companion also speaks French or is willing to use French as much as possible during the stay. The effectiveness of the immersion can be reduced if conversations during breaks and meals mainly take place in your native language. Consistent use of French in everyday situations is a key element of our concept.
It is also important that the presence of an accompanying person does not interfere with the course schedule or the learning experience of the other participants.
Unfortunately, dogs cannot be accepted. As the Camargue is a protected natural area, dogs are not permitted in many locations. Their presence would also limit visits to museums, the use of public transport, and participation in some group excursions. We thank you for your understanding, which allows us to offer all participants a rich and unrestricted program.
Can I Book a Fully Customized French Language Immersion Stay?
Yes. Upon request, we would be happy to explore the possibility of organizing a fully personalized French language immersion stay with private French lessons.
Please contact us with your wishes, learning objectives, and availability. We will be delighted to create a tailor-made offer adapted to your individual needs and goals.
