“I hadn’t taken a French course in years and was unsure if I could still speak confidently. At Envie de Sud, I felt welcome from the very first day. The lessons were professional but relaxed, and I could use my French immediately in daily life – at meals, on the market, or during excursions. I especially appreciated the small group and Ursula’s personal guidance. I not only learned a lot but also rediscovered my joy of the language.”

“I wanted to maintain and improve my French in retirement, without school-like pressure. Envie de Sud offered the perfect environment: structured yet personal. The combination of lessons, conversations in everyday situations, and cultural excursions was ideal. I particularly enjoyed the calm atmosphere and learning at my own pace. This stay is perfect for adults and seniors who value quality and a personal experience.”

“We attended the language stay as a couple and were thrilled. The lessons were tailored to our level, and we could speak a lot without ever feeling pressured. The accommodation, meals, and excursions made the experience complete. It was not a traditional language course but a full immersion into the French lifestyle. We would gladly return.”

“I was looking for a French language stay that went beyond classroom learning and offered real cultural immersion. Envie de Sud provided exactly that. The small group format allowed for meaningful conversations, and I appreciated the calm, respectful atmosphere. Learning French while visiting local markets, historical towns, and sharing meals made the experience both enriching and enjoyable. It was a thoughtful, well-organized stay, perfectly suited for culturally curious adults.”

“As someone deeply interested in European culture, I wanted to improve my French in an authentic and respectful environment. The program at Envie de Sud was calm, personal, and very well balanced. The combination of language lessons, cultural excursions, and daily conversations helped me gain confidence in speaking French. I particularly valued the personal attention and the opportunity to experience southern France in a genuine way.”

“I wanted to improve my spoken French in a setting that felt authentic and culturally meaningful rather than academic. Envie de Sud offered exactly that. The small-group lessons were well-structured, yet relaxed, and the opportunity to practice French during daily activities made a real difference. What truly made the experience special were the table d’hôtes dinners — sharing beautifully prepared, seasonal meals while speaking French in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere helped me gain confidence naturally. The balance between language learning, culture, and gastronomy was outstanding. I would warmly recommend this stay to culturally curious adults seeking a refined and personal experience.”

Language Level

A language level from A2/B1 to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is ideal. You are a confident beginner or someone with somewhat “rusty” language skills. Typically, you already understand quite a lot and can write short emails or text messages with some help, but when it comes to participating in conversations, you may struggle with limited vocabulary or lack of practice—and possibly also confidence to simply start speaking.

This is exactly where we come in: we help you develop speaking confidence in a very short time. Since you will also be speaking French outside the lessons—during breakfast, dinner, and excursions—you will usually manage to switch into French mode after just a few days.

If you are unsure:
We are happy to advise you personally on which format is best suited for you. Your host Ursula, together with Akhil, are both on their way to completing a Master’s degree in FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) and are highly qualified in language teaching methodology. They are also continuously training and staying up to date with the latest scientific approaches in language acquisition, ensuring a modern and effective learning experience tailored to your needs.

French Language Stay – Programme and cost

The heart of our language stay is full immersion in everyday French life. Vauvert – a small town in Southern France near Nîmes – provides the ideal setting. People greet each other in the street, and it is easy to feel part of the community. Since hardly anyone here speaks another language, you are naturally encouraged – almost obliged – to speak French from the very first day.

As a tourist region, the Camargue offers a wide range of leisure activities. With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, the Mediterranean light and southern atmosphere make learning French a truly enjoyable experience.

  • with a focus on speaking and understanding

  • at your own pace

  • guided by experienced language teachers specialized in teaching French as a foreign language

Our French teacher in 2026 is Akhil

We are delighted to have secured the dynamic and highly skilled Akhil for all courses in 2026. He also lives at Envie de Sud, so he joins the evening meals and accompanies us on excursions. This allows us to offer our students a truly complete experience and genuine immersion in language and culture. As a naturally cheerful person, he also contributes greatly to a positive atmosphere.

Akhil has several years of experience teaching French as a foreign language. He also continuously further develops his skills to stay up to date with the latest didactic methods. Reliability, professionalism, and pedagogical sensitivity are a matter of course for him. And you will come to appreciate his subtle sense of humor.

A true language talent himself, he always finds a way to communicate with his students or to explain something in their native language when needed. In addition to French, English, Hindi, he also speaks German and Spanish.

How to Get to Vauvert in Camargue ?

The fastest way to travel from the UK is usually by train and TGV via Paris. From London, you can take the Eurostar to Paris, then connect to a high-speed TGV train towards Nîmes Pont du Gard or Nîmes Centre.

From Nîmes Centre (not applicable for Nîmes Pont du Gard), there are bus connections to Vauvert with the regional transport company Lio Occitanie, or you can take the regional SNCF train on the Nîmes–Le Grau-du-Roi line, or conveniently take a taxi (around 30 minutes).

Alternatively, you can fly from the UK to nearby airports. Montpellier Airport is about 45 minutes away by taxi or rental car. Marseille Airport is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away by taxi or rental car. Nîmes–Alès–Camargue–Cévennes Airport (Nîmes Garons) is the closest airport, approximately 30 minutes away by taxi or rental car. If you inform us well in advance (several days before arrival), we can order a taxi from Vauvert for you, which will take you to your chosen location or pick you up at a reasonable rate. Alternatively, you can arrange your own taxi or rideshare.

Using public transport from the airports to Vauvert and back is possible but quite time-consuming, and therefore not recommended. You would only save a small amount of money but add unnecessary stress with transfers and luggage handling.

During your stay, you will most likely not need a car, as weekdays include morning classes and on four afternoons we organize excursions where transport is provided.

On other days, if you wish to explore, you can take the bus, train, or order a taxi. This will usually cost less than renting a car for 14 days. However, you are of course free to organize your travel as you prefer. It is also possible to rent a car in Vauvert, even for just one day. If you are interested, please contact us before your trip and we will send you a link so you can book it independently.

If you arrive with your own car (for example via ferry or Eurotunnel), you can park it free of charge in a public parking area in Vauvert. The myth from the 1970s that cars are broken into and car radios stolen in the South of France is simply not true. Vauvert is a peaceful small town in the countryside where people greet each other in the streets. No one steals car radios anymore, and otherwise it is simply a matter of using common sense, just as you would at home.
