In 2026, all French courses will be led by Akhil. With his extensive experience in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE – Français Langue Étrangère), he combines professionalism, pedagogical sensitivity, and an infectious positive energy.
During the French language immersion stay, Akhil also lives at Envie de Sud and takes part in shared meals and cultural excursions. This allows you to benefit from authentic French immersion far beyond the classroom.
Through continuous professional development, Akhil stays up to date with the latest teaching methods. He is currently completing his part-time Master’s degree in FLE, Didactics and Francophonie at Université Marie et Louis Pasteur. It was there that Akhil met Ursula, the host of Envie de Sud. She is also nearing completion of her Master’s degree in French as a Foreign Language. While Ursula specializes in language research, Akhil focuses on deepening his expertise in teaching French to non-native speakers.
Akhil teaches with patience, humor, and a keen understanding of each participant’s individual needs. The measurable progress achieved by students during a two-week French immersion program at Envie de Sud is remarkable. Of course, this success also depends on the motivation, dedication, and learning capacity of each participant – perhaps soon including yours. French Level Assessment & Course Selection
We offer two course levels:
- A1 – for beginners with some basic prior knowledge of French – 3 to 4 participants per group
- A2/B1+ – for learners with elementary to intermediate French skills – 3 to 6 participants per group
Our French immersion concept is effective at every language level.
We also welcome participants with a more advanced level of French (B2 and above), depending on their profile, objectives, and individual language needs.
The content and activities of the A2/B1 course can be adapted so that each of the maximum six participants progresses at their own pace. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your current level of French and determine together which course is the best fit for your goals.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept complete beginners with no prior knowledge of French (A0 level), as our program focuses on communication and listening comprehension from the very first day.
However, you can easily acquire the required basic knowledge through self-study or with individual online lessons with Akhil at FLE-FLEX.

How is my French level asessed?
Before your arrival, we discuss your previous experience with French, your learning goals, and your expectations. If needed, a short placement test helps us assess your current level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), from A1 to C2.
This ensures that you are placed in the most suitable course and allows Akhil to tailor the lessons to the specific needs of each participant.

What Does a Typical Day of French Immersion Look Like?
What Does a Typical Immersion Day Look Like?
Your French language immersion stay (100+ hours) begins with your arrival on Sunday afternoon at Envie de Sud and ends two weeks later on Saturday morning.
From the very first moment, we speak French consistently with you and the other participants. Even if your vocabulary is still limited, you will be able to communicate with us. We naturally adapt our language to your level. And if absolutely necessary, we may occasionally use a shared language such as English or German.
Morning classes
French lessons with your teacher take place from Monday to Friday in the mornings. You receive four lessons of 45 minutes per day, starting at 10:15 a.m. and ending at 1:05 p.m.
Afternoons
The afternoons are free for homework, individual study, or simply to let the new material settle and be processed at your own pace.
On at least four afternoons, we organize cultural excursions in the Camargue and its surroundings. These outings give you many opportunities to use your new French skills in real-life situations.
Meals & daily rhythm
The day begins with a shared breakfast and light conversation in French. More complex topics are usually reserved for later in the day.
In the evening, we meet for a shared dinner at our table d’hôtes. In this relaxed atmosphere, we continue speaking French. Depending on the topic, you expand your vocabulary and gain increasing confidence and fluency. Besides the participants, your teacher and occasionally other guests also join. This allows you to hear different speech patterns, expressions, and regional accents—an excellent way to train your listening comprehension.
Weekend break
There is no formal teaching during the mid-weekend of your stay. You can use this time for homework, join a group excursion, or explore the Camargue independently or with other participants.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation conditions are communicated to you transparently at the time of booking. As the French language immersion stay at the Maison d’Hôtes Envie de Sud is a carefully organized premium program, we recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance in case you need to cancel your trip unexpectedly.
Our concept is clearly different from traditional language travel programs. You benefit from intensive teaching in very small groups, almost continuous language immersion guided by qualified professionals, stylish accommodation, and high-quality Mediterranean cuisine. This combination of personal support, authentic language immersion, and high comfort is, of course, reflected in our pricing structure.
The 2026 rates represent excellent value for this level of quality.
A comparison with large language schools, where twelve or more participants are taught together and then spend their free time alone in an apartment, only tells part of the story. Our goal is to provide you with a sustainable, motivating, and inspiring learning experience in a short period of time. Participants who achieve significant progress in such an intensive environment typically remain motivated and enthusiastic about learning long after the course has ended.

In order to offer this high-quality experience under fair conditions and to ensure reliable planning for teachers, hosts, and all involved parties, free cancellation is only possible up to eight weeks before arrival. For cancellations made after this period, 85% of the total amount will be charged. This policy helps prevent already planned courses from being cancelled for economic reasons. A last-minute cancellation would also affect other participants who have already organized their travel.
Can I Book Online Lessons Before or After My Stay?
Yes. You can book private online lessons with Akhil before your trip to prepare in a targeted way. After your stay, you also have the option to continue your lessons online in order to consolidate your progress and ensure lasting learning results.
Can I bring my partner or spouse, or my dog?
Of course, your partner or spouse is very welcome, even if they do not take part in the language course. This allows you to combine your French immersion stay with a shared holiday in the Camargue. We are happy to prepare a tailored offer upon request.
For optimal learning results, we encourage your companion to speak French as well, or at least to be willing to engage with the French language as much as possible during the stay. The learning effect can be significantly reduced if communication during breaks and meals takes place mainly in your native language. Consistent language immersion is a key element of our concept.
It is also important that the presence of your companion does not interfere with the program schedule or the learning experience of the other participants.
We can consider the possibility of bringing a dog on a case-by-case basis. However, please be aware that the Camargue is a protected natural reserve, and dogs are not allowed in many areas.
In addition, visits to museums and public transport use, as well as participation in shared excursions, would be significantly restricted. For this reason, bringing a dog can have a considerable impact on the flexibility and overall experience of the stay.
To ensure a smooth, enriching, and well-balanced program for all participants, we therefore ask for your understanding that any arrangement involving a dog must be carefully discussed and confirmed in advance.

Easy Travel & Arrival
The Camargue is well connected and easy to reach via several transport options.
The nearest major international airport is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS). From there, the journey to Envie de Sud takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by taxi or Uber, depending on traffic conditions.
Alternatively, you can travel by high-speed train to Nîmes TGV station. From Nîmes, you can continue your journey to Vauvert and Envie de Sud by taxi or Uber, or by public transport, including SNCF regional trains or LiO Occitanie buses.
